The Future Teachers of The Bahamas programme is a recruitment programme of The Bahamas Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training. In order to meet the increasing shortage of skilled teachers in critical content areas, the Future Teachers of The Bahamas (FTB) programme was established in 1995. The programme is an innovative approach to the teaching profession and seeks to encourage students in grades 10 to 12 to become interested in teaching. The programme aims to provide insight into the nature of teaching, critical issues in education and the importance of teaching, so that the cadets will eventually make teaching their profession of choice.
